Beginning April 5, 2021, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (the Port Authority) has implemented a taxi and for-hire vehicle (FHV) an access fee at LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy, and Newark Liberty airports.
The Port Authority will charge taxis passengers $1.25 for each pick-up, and will charge FHVs (rideshares, black cars, liveries, and luxury limousines) $2.50 for both pick-ups and drop-offs. These fees are in addition to fares and other transportation charges. Bases should make sure passengers are aware of these new fees. Any base that wants to pick-up or drop-off passengers at these airports must obtain an Access Permit from the Port Authority to do so. The permit and fees apply regardless of where the base is licensed. Bases are responsible for collecting all airport trip fees from drivers and remitting the access fees to the Port Authority monthly. Penalties for non-compliance could be steep.
